All Saints with Holy Trinity, Church of England

Churchgate, LE11 1UX.

The town’s original parish church of ‘Saints Peter and Paul’ (the name being changed during the Protectorate) was built on the pinnacle of ‘Tot Hill’ (or watching post, the highest point in town), and is still referred to as ‘Loughborough Parish Church’.   There has been a building here since about 1120 (the first Rector being appointed in 1193);  the present church is mainly of Decorated Gothic style but incorporating the Perpendicular period, with spectacular nave and powerful 100 foot tower housing a peal of ten bells (cast at nearby Taylors Foundry).   Restored by Scott in the 1860’s to look largely 19th century, and again extensively restored in the 1990s.   In the 15th century it possessed a mechanically operated chime.   Used as a Royalist garrison during the Civil War.   Amalgamated in 1981 with Holy Trinity parish.

Our vision is to be a ‘Church for the ‘Community’, being aware of our special calling as a town centre church in a multi-faith area.   We practice a positive ministry of welcome and acceptance, offering varieties of service including traditional, liturgical and choral, and child-friendly informal worship and occasions of healing and celebration.
